ARRL Iowa Section Recognition Nominations 2024

We will take the opportunity at the IA Section Convention 2024 Date & Location TBD, to recognize Amateurs in Iowa for a wide range of accomplishments in volunteering, leadership, service, innovation, etc.. in 2023.  Please take this time to nominate someone, don't be shy, you can even nominate yourself.  We will interview the nominee, and those that qualify and are selected, will be honored with a nice commemorative plaque, and will have their story shared with Iowa and National Amateur Radio News sources.

The criteria for each award is in italics below.   Only Iowa hams are eligible.


2024 will be the third year for Recognition Awards for the Iowa Section. Previous Award recipients:  

Spark Award - Inspired others to do their best; offered techniques and/or unexpected time and energy to assist others with no expectation of recognition

2022 John I Ely, The Noon-Time Net - ad hoc net for community during the Pandemic


Leadership Award - Demonstrated extraordinary leadership skills

Action Award 2021 - Effort was "above and beyond" usual Amateur Radio activities 

2021 Great River Amateur Radio Club, W0DBQ; Iowa State Parks on the Air (IASPOTA) a year-long Special Centennial Event
2022 Randy Milliken, WY0E; Amateur Radio Net Control activities (5 nets) to give back to Amateur Radio Community.


Emergency Communications Award - Reacted positively to an emergency communications situation

Exemplary Service Award - Contributed exceptionally to the Amateur Radio community

Momentum Award (New for 2024) - Undertaking resulted in the achievement of a goal or project outside the scope of usual Amateur Radio activities
